Are Your Parents
Facing a Move?

We’ll handle the details.

Distance and commitments may limit your involvement in moving your parent. We lend a hand, communicate with you and support your parents in the transition.

We’ll Ensure a Smooth Transition.

The responsibility for moving a parent often falls to you and your siblings. While you want to be helpful, your involvement may be hindered by distance and demands of career and family.

Think of us as senior move managers, taking care of details you would handle, if you could. We deal respectfully with your parents, providing physical and emotional support as they downsize to a smaller residence.

We prepare their home for resale, help them in sorting through and disposing of accumulated items, pack and supervise the movers. Working with the retirement community, we coordinate the details for a smooth transition. With comfort and safety in mind, we arrange the rooms to seem like home, putting furniture and treasured items in place, hanging pictures and discarding packing materials. Importantly, we familiarize your parents with the setup of their new home to minimize the anxiety and confusion that can come with new surroundings.

A sample move by Home to Home.

Situation: For months, three out-of-state siblings struggled to organize their parents’ move to a retirement community. Endless phone calls to each other always left them with the same questions: “Where do we start? And how can we do this from such distances?”

Solution: The children learned of Home to Home Transitions and each spoke at length to owner Jean Graves to be assured that she and her team were the answer.

Phone calls and emails closed the distance gap and allowed the siblings to be kept updated and involved regularly so that all details were handled to their satisfaction. When their schedules allowed, the siblings provided hands-on help.

Home to Home prepared the parents’ home for sale, including such tasks as cleaning out cabinets, organizing the basement and garage and disposing of what everyone agreed was the excess. To ensure that the new residence was in move-in condition and that the transition was a smooth one, Home to Home coordinated the move with the retirement community. Following the directives of the family they packed, unpacked and organized so the parents felt at home at their new address.

Result: Even at a distance, children could ensure a stress-free move:

  • What at first seemed to be an impossible task for the children became a well-organized transition.
  • The siblings felt they maintained control through regular communication.
  • On moving day there were smiles and tears of gratitude. The children were so pleased they offered to be a reference for Home to Home.

“You were all so kind and patient and did exactly what we asked. We appreciate your special care in making Mom and Dad’s home so nice.”
- Siblings living in California, Michigan and Massachusetts

"Living so far away made it impossible for me to help with my parents’ move. You did all the things I would have done, if I could have – and plenty more! Thank you."

- Debbie, San Francisco
